Weekend Away 9th – 12th November

This weekend 19 Pool of Life members embarked on their bi-annual weekend retreat to the beautiful Plaish Park retreat in Shropshire. We arrived mid-afternoon to a really warm welcome of home-made cookies and a ready-made log fire. We had a chilled Friday night as always, with pizza, chips and plenty of corked medication to warm the cockles of our hearts, to go with the great conversation and buckets of laughter.

Saturday the majority of our members set off on a 9-mile walk ending with a well-earned glass of real ale in the local hostelry, while the remainder went bric-a-brac hunting and had a lovely lunch in Church Stretton. We all arrived back at 2 pm, and at 3 pm took advantage of our free two-hour session in the gym/infinity pool/jacuzzi and relaxation mezzanine. Later, after home-made chilli and rice, we all sat down to our traditional quiz night.

Sunday we went to a National Trust park for a walk up the Shropshire hills to a lovely waterfall; this was after our two-minute silence and a glass of sherry for Remembrance Sunday. The walk was amazing with beautiful views over the valleys of Shropshire. For those who didn’t walk, there was a lovely coffee shop selling the most amazing hot chocolate and cake.

We then went to a very quaint pub in Wall on Hedbury for a carvery. Following this, the rest of the evening was spent chilling, chatting and snacking especially on Mister Whiston’s lovely deviled eggs.

Monday we headed home from the most amazing cottages we had ever stayed in. All relaxed and content and looking forward to our next adventure.

Thank you all for a fabulous time, Caroline x
