Trentham Canoe Club, October 12th, 2024
It had been a while since Pool of Life had visited our friends at Trentham Canoe Club, so on Saurday, Oct 12th, 2024 we wrapped up well and made our way to the beautiful Trentham Gardens.
Although it had been raining on the journey down it cleared up by the time we were ready to go out on the water.

To make a change from dragonboating we split into two groups and climbed into outriggers.

As we paddled around the lake our helm pointed out various things of interest, told us the history of Trentham Estate and discussed the wildlife it houses.

After a delicious lunch of Staffordshire oat cakes with cheese filling, and an excellent choice of cakes and tea or coffee, it was back onto the water for those who wanted to try out a coracle. By this time the weather was gorgeous and some of us had a stroll by the lake.

Heather made it look so easy getting into the coracle.
But, as Sheila discovered, things don’t always go to plan as her coracle flipped over and tipped her into the water.

After another cuppa and cake it was time to head for home. Many thanks to Dave and Lynda for their invite and hospitality and also to the Trentham guys who helped out and shared their knowledge.
We had a wonderful, memorable day – the one where Sheila got wet! (Sorry Sheila 😀)
