Kelsall & Friends Pink Charity Walk!, 5th October 2019
This was the second Pink Charity Walk we have held in the village during October Cancer Awareness Month, with all monies raised being shared 50:50 between NW Cancer Research (Kelsall Branch) and Pool Of Life.
This years walk proved to be a great success again, matching our first year of 100+ walkers taking part. All the walkers got into the spirit of the walk by wearing something “pink” and enjoying themselves.
The weather leading up to the day of the walk had been inclement with many rainy days. But, we were lucky on the day of the walk with weather good and dry – though very wet underfoot across the farmers fields.
Refreshments and raffle tickets were available for everyone in the Community Centre as people were being registered. The walkers were waved off by the musical accompaniment of a musical trio from St Philips church playing “When the saints go marching in” getting everyone in a joyous mood. Everything went well on the day, stopping off at the half-way stage of the 3.5 mile walk to enjoy refreshments, tea & coffee kindly provided by two local farmers Natalie and Steve Plumbley – many thanks to them!
I am pleased to report that the Pink Walk raised £3,186 to be shared between our two charities, with £1593 being donated to them both! Following on from this success we hope to establish the walk as an annual event and we look forward to repeating again in October 2020 with the lovely ladies (and gentlemen) from Pool Of Life joining us and enjoying the day again!
